Collection: Nest boxes
Installing nest boxes in your garden or outdoor area can be a great way to support wild birds and encourage breeding activity.
Here are some tips for choosing and placing nest boxes for game birds:
Choose the right type of box : There are many different designs of nest boxes for different species of wild birds. Be sure to choose a box that is suitable for the species you wish to attract. For example, different bird species have different preferences for hole size and interior dimensions of the box.
Location : It is important to place the nest box in a suitable place. In general, most wild birds prefer nest boxes that are suspended from trees or posts and are located away from predators and direct sunlight. Also, avoid placing boxes close to feeding areas or places where there is a lot of human activity.
Height : Nest boxes should be placed at a height appropriate for the species you wish to attract. In general, most nest boxes can be hung somewhere between 2 and 5 meters above the ground.
Direction : Make sure the opening of the nest box faces away from prevailing wind directions to protect the birds and their nests from the weather.
Maintenance : Nest boxes should be cleaned regularly, especially after each breeding season, to remove old nesting and excrement materials. This helps prevent the spread of disease and increases the likelihood that the birds will return to the nest next season.
By installing nesting boxes in your garden, you can not only attract and support wild birds, but also enjoy the joy of watching them breed and raise their young close to your home.
